Obituary for Sr. Marion Rappl

Brighton: Sister Marion (Sr. M. Boniface) was called home by her God on June 1, 2016 during her 63rd year as a Sister of Mercy. Sr. Marion earned a BS degree from Nazareth College with a major in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. She received her MST from St. Louis University with a major in chemistry and a minor in physics. She received permanent certification from NYS in biology and general science, 7-12. She taught elementary school at St. James and St. Louis. For the next 13 years her mission was to Our Lady of Mercy HS teaching science. Cardinal Mooney HS was her next assignment. Sr. Marion returned to Mercy HS for another three years before becoming full time scheduler and lab assistant. She then worked in the congregational office as assistant to the treasurer, followed by working in the finance office of the regional NyPPaW community. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary, natives of Germany. Survivors include her brother, Retired Major General Norbert (Bernice) Rappl; her sister, Sr. Katherine Ann Rappl RSM; nieces, nephew and the Sisters of Mercy.

Friends are welcome Friday 4-7pm at the Mercy Center 1437 Blossom Rd. where her vigil service will be held at 7pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10am also at the Mercy Center. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy.
