The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joseph McManus can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Joseph B.  McManus
Irondequoit: January 25, 2017 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife, Lillian. Survived by his children, Joseph J. (Jane), Cheryl (Dave) Funke, James D., and Douglas M. (Shan); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Joe served in the National Guard and was a highly decorated veteran of WWII. His personnel work and teaching history included Eastman Kodak, Taylor Instrument, City of Rochester, General Railway Signal, GRS Employee Credit Union, Cornell University Extended Services, RIT and U of R. He served on many boards in the community including, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Rochester Girl Scouts, Blue Shield of Rochester, Penfield Credit Union, NYS Credit Union, 84th Infantry Division, and Monroe Golf Club. Joe was a mediator, fact finder and arbitrator with the Public Employees Relations Board (PERB), and worked on many contracts throughout the state. In his retirement he served as President of the 108th Infantry Association. His hobbies included bowling, gardening and golf.

Friends are welcome Monday 3-7pm at the Dreier-Giltner Funeral Home Inc. 1717 Portland Ave. Joe's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 11am in the chapel of St. Ann's Home 1500 Portland Ave. Interment Irondequoit Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made in Joe's memory to the Veteran's Outreach Center, 447 South Ave. Rochester, NY 14620.
