Brighton: God called Sister Kathleen home, March 31, 2017, during her 73rd year as a Sister of Mercy.
Sister Kathleen entered the Sisters of Mercy after graduating from Elmira Catholic High in 1944. Degrees include, BA in English, Nazareth College, MSLS in Library Science, Catholic U., MS in Religious Education, Fordham U., & DMIN in Family Ministries, Colgate Rochester Divinity.

She taught at St. Mary’s School, Corning & Our Lady of Mercy HS. She was Librarian at Notre Dame & Cardinal Mooney HS, Chaplain at Newman Oratory, SUNY Brockport for ten years. As Pastoral Counselor/Public Relations, she worked at Chili Counseling Center/St. Mary, Rochester.

She served on the leadership team of the Sisters of Mercy for eight years, followed by Writing/Research in the RSM Archive Office. Publications included, The Sharing Tree, A Decade of Growth, St. Mary’s, Rochester & was actively involved in the Tanzanian Sisters Project.

Pre-deceased by parents, Cornelius J. & Jean M. (Sturgis), siblings: Cornelius J., Jr. (Jean), Helene M. Clark, Jean M. Sweeney (Paul), William J; brothers-in-law: Carmen Esposito, Arthur Nehring, Lawrence Henson; survived by brothers, Damian Milliken, OSB, Tanzania, East Africa, James (Anna Marie) Milliken,
Joseph (Sylvia) Milliken; sisters, Therese Esposito, Elizabeth Milliken (James Williams), Rose Nehring, Ann Henson, Margaret (Charles) Nittinger, Mary (Frank) Welch, nieces, nephews, friends, and the Sisters of Mercy.

Friends are welcome Wednesday, April 5 from 4 to 7 PM at Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Road, with a vigil service at 7 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday April 6, 9:30 AM at Mercy Center. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy & St. Paul’s Abbey, African Mission Fund.
