Irondequoit: Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 at age 102. Predeceased by his wife, Eleanor; and brother, Joseph. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Fred) Scacchitti; grandchildren, Lisa Cometa, Jerry (Tina) Scacchitti and Amy (Chis) Ashton; 6 great-grandchildren; dear friend, Cindy “Cinderella” Pantos.

Jerry was a life long resident of Irondequoit and spent his final years at Atria Senior Living Community in Penfield and Baird Nursing Home in Rochester.

After 37 years working for Eastman Kodak as an engineer in research & development, Jerry became the first Fire Marshall to serve the Town of Irondequoit.

Jerry started his volunteer fireman's career serving over 10 years with the Sea Breeze Fire Department. He then became a faithful member of Point Pleasant Fire Department in 1948, becoming their oldest living member, serving active volunteer fire duty, President of the Fire Dept., and Chief of their Fire Police.

The Point Pleasant Fireman's Association and all of the members of the Fire Department were proud to be able to salute Jerry on his 100th birthday, which was also the fire department's 100th Anniversary.

Jerry was also and avid Yankee's fan.

Friends are welcome MONDAY 4-8 PM with the Fire Department Chief’s Last Call at 7 PM at Dreier-Giltner Funeral Home, 1717 Portland Ave., Irondequoit. His Funeral Service will be held TUESDAY at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Irondequoit Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 3760 Culver Rd., Rochester, NY 14622 or Point Pleasant Fire Department, 55 Ewer Ave., Rochester, NY 14622 in Jerry’s memory.
