Pittsford: Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the age of 83. Survived by his loving wife of 49 and 3/4 years, Kathleen "Kass" Nilsen; son, Erik Nilsen; daughter, Karin (Jason) Sorge; grandsons, Ian and Evan Sorge. Chris was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at RIT for 41 years. He loved woodcarving, birdwatching and spending time with his grandsons.

Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Chris' life on Friday, June 15th at 4:30pm at Church of the Transfiguration 50 W. Bloomfield Rd. Pittsford. Interment will be held privately at Greenwood Cemetery in Kendall, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lifetime Care Hospice 3111 S. Winton Rd. 14623
