I'll drop back 25+ years and relate an event that might lend some comfort. It happened one moment when Phil was having a particularly rough day, though the outcome of which changed both our lives! He called about a car and asked if he could come by with it and I told him sure! When he arrived he asked if "we" could talk. Said it wasn't about the car! I took a moment out of my day and said sure how may I help. He replied "I just spent the last two hours standing on the bay bridge and was going to jump!" "I spent the night drinking and gambling and life seemed so pointless, and while standing there thinking, everyone I knew in the automotive business was either struggling or bitter also, and then I thought of you and remembered every time I called, you always sounded happy, even though all heck was breaking loose every time I was there and saw it, yet you never showed it or took it out on the customers!" Little did he know! Before caller ID you had to answer all calls regardless! But who knew something as basic as answering the phones could be a life-changer? I explained to Phil that it was only Christianity, and that God was in Charge and directing my life (which was/is far from perfect also) but people don't call to get more problems, in the service industry they call to get them solved! He asked if it would work for him, and I had the pleasure at that moment, of showing him from the Bible how God not only forgives sin but wipes the slate clean, grants eternal life in Heaven, and How life's burdens are not quite so bad when you give them to God and let Him worry about them. Christians aren't perfect at all, just forgiven is the difference, and eternal life really makes the short time we're here on earth phenominally more tolerable! He accepted the Lord as his savior, Prayed and asked for his sins to be forgiven and ultimately left as new Christian, not perfect, but his sins forgiven and eternal life now was his! Admittedly I lost track of Phil after that and only saw him once at a car auction at a distance and never got to talk to him again, But I can conclusively say he is in heaven, and we'll see him there eventually as he was saved from an eternity in h*ll by his own choice. To me that's the ultimate powerball winner - eternal life! Now to make sure those remaining in his family and friends make the same choice so they too can meet up again in heaven! God's manifold blessings to you all! Dave Bonis
