The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Joseph Sullivan can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Sully

For one thing I had no idea Joe and I were so close in age.  My brother was 4 yrs older than me and when he was in School at BHS was the first I ever heard of Joe.  To hear him talk and the guys from the York Palace on the Ave.- To everyone who ever said anything about Joe Sullivan it all added up to Joe Sullivan was indestructable.   That about says it all.  Here it says he was 69 and I turned 68 yesterday, and that says volumes about how I had better keep doing what I finally did and what the last thing Joe Sullivan told me to do at a wedding at least three lives ago when I fell asleep in the back of someones truck at a wedding sometime between '72 and '73- He woke me up in a fairly gentle way and said, "STRAIGHTtEN UP!"  I have been gone so long, a great Grandfather and the kids look like they may make that Great great Gp on the next 10 years and My memories are so clear of the fly and John Schultheis and Moe- and I feel like if I came back everyone will still be there as I left them in '74.  And the Fly would have a black eye because Joe caught him with tracks again and did the only thing that someone who loves a guy on the skids like that to make him listen and straighten up.  I wish I could come home again and one more time for one more week have everyone that was there when I left back again.  We talk about our parents generation as having been the greatest America ever had.  But Chiarrella, and Springer and Wylie and so many more of us were the last generation of Americans to take the Draft as a given - the last generation to go without question. I can't remember all, but Joe was very respected part of a breed apart.  We never thought we would make it past 30, and if you can read this and remember me you've done good.  He's up there, I remember what he told me, not the last to say it, rather one of the first.  He was good people and theres a hole in the world.  JB.  Strange how losing someone from a different time so many years ago can make this very sad news.  My world is smaller.
